Women's Philharmonic's Projects
American Women Masters
The American Women Masters (AWM) series identified and promoted exceptional American women composers of the past and present. TWP were working with radio stations to broadcast the works of these American Women Master composers and TWP were promoting this series to orchestras across the state of California. This program was generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. The goal of this program was to:-
Increase the incredibly low percentage of performances of women composed pieces by North American orchestras to a continually higher percentage each year.
-
15 % of premiered works in 2002/03 Season (up from 12% in 2001/02)
1% of all North American performances in the 2002/03 Season

Fanfares Project
The Fanfares Project is the largest commissioning project of women composers to date. The Women's Philharmonic commissioned eight new works by American women composers from 2000 to 2002. These short 4-10 minute works make it easy for conductors or music directors to program an unknown woman composer, thereby increasing the opportunity for performance. The goal of this program was to:
- Increase the number of women composed pieces performed by orchestras.
- Have these fanfares presented in every major American city.
